For Veterans Day, the celebrity chefs, winemakers and dignitaries in Yountville, the Napa Valley town known for its fine restaurants and Michelin stars, will salute the residents of the Veterans Home of California when they prepare a multi-course gourmet meal at the 11th Annual Celebrity Chefs Veterans Day Luncheon on November 4.

Chef Bob Hurley of Hurley’s Restaurant & Bar, and the Yountville Chamber of Commerce, the 11th anniversary luncheon will feature the culinary talents of Chef Gregory Short of Bistro Jeanty; Chef Tedd Romeo and Chef Victor Scargle of Lucy Restaurant & Bar at Bardessono; Chef Brandon Rosen of Redd; Chef Kevin Miller of The Vintage Estate; Chef Cary Delbridge of Brix Restaurant; and, Chef Douglas Gregory of Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bakery.

“Preparing this meal is a small gesture of our gratitude to the men and women who have served our country, and who are such an important part of our community,” said Chef Hurley. “Because most of them cannot make the trip to our restaurants, we decided to bring our restaurants to them.”

The Veterans Home of California in Yountville houses 966 United States military veterans, a third of the town’s population. Many of them are on fixed incomes and unable to afford the upscale, nationally-acclaimed restaurants that make Yountville a culinary destination.

“This is a once-a-year experience for most of our residents,” explained Public Information Officer Terri Mejorado.  “They appreciate so much that the chefs and the town donate their time, staff and culinary creations to celebrate Veterans Day in their honor.”

The gourmet meal will be served restaurant-style by dozens of volunteers and restaurant staff, and accompanied by some of Napa Valley’s finest wines, including wines from Domaine Chandon, Cornerstone Cellars, Girard Winery, Trefethen Family Vineyards, Black Stallion Estate Winery, Goosecross Cellars, Clos du Val, Keever Vineyards, Cosentino Winery, Priest Ranch, Chappellet & ZD, and Paradigm.
