Prominent Civil Rights leaders Charles A. Black and Dr. Lonnie C. King, Jr. will share their first-hand experiences working side-by-side with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to organize student participation in the Civil Rights Movement while they were students at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, in the 1960s. This presentation will provide a unique opportunity to hear accounts from two individuals who were part of the inner circle with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the early days of desegregation. They also will share thoughts about the continuing impact of their actions on race relations in America today. A question and answer period will follow their remarks.
Ellen Patterson will provide piano music for this event. After the program, guests will have a chance to meet and mingle with the presenters, special guests, and event organizers from the California Veterans Home Planning Committee.
